The Fire Starter brief allowed breathing new life into past brands, and one opportunity they offered was by merging two unsuspected brands. The brands I chose to merge were BIC and Love Honey. While this initially sounds like a very erotic mix, that is not what I intend. By merging the brands, I plan to bring the simplest of pleasures back into the lives of people with Parkinson’s disease.
The Solution
This simple pleasure is writing. Making a kit to create vibrating pens, using peripheral stimulation techniques to create ease and allow control when writing.
Considering the challenges of fine motor skills, I minimized small flaps that could hinder opening and closing. I opted for a large handle for ease of use. Along side this, I need to reduce the need to hold multiple items, such as an instruction leaflet, by placing necessary information inside.
